Yusuke Yamamoto is an award-winning silversmith from Japan, now living on the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales. He is known for his distinctive surface texture and hammered marks on sculptural silverware.“My work is a manifestation of my everyday observations. Everything that I experience in life has the potential to be translated into my practice, for example, the smells in a green dense forest, the noise and colour during a trip to the country or to the city, the patterns of a mathematical expression on a blackboard. These stimulate my curiosity and creative obsession which leads to its own story of silver.
Once I have found the essence of my narrative then I begin to jot down these ideas onto silver with my individual style of sculptured and chased silver forms, exploring movement and pattern through distinctive surface texture and hammered marks.”

Gwneuthurwr gemwaith o Japan sydd bellach yn byw ym Mhen Llŷn yw Yusuke Yamamoto. Caiff ei adnabod am ei weadedd arwyneb arbennig a’i farciau wedi’u morthwylio ar lestri arian cerfluniol.
“Amlygiadau o fy arsylwadau bob dydd yw fy ngwaith. Mae gan bob dim rwy’n ei brofi mewn bywyd y potensial o gael ei drosi i fy ymarfer, er enghraifft, arogleuon mewn fforest las drwchus, y sŵn a’r lliw yn ystod taith i’r wlad neu’r ddinas, patrymau mynegiad mathemategol ar fwrdd du. Mae’r rhain yn ysgogi fy chwilfrydedd a fy obsesiwn creadigol sy’n arwain at ei stori ei hun ynghylch arian.
Cyn gynted rwyf wedi canfod hanfod fy naratif yna rwy’n dechrau nodi’r syniadau hyn ar arian yn fy arddull unigol o ffurfiau arian cerfluniol ac wedi’u siasio, gan archwilio symudiad a phatrwm drwy weadedd arwyneb arbennig a marciau wedi’u morthwylio.”
