Lottie's practice explores transformation as a collaboration between maker, material and environment. Drawing on her training and experience in the ceramic industry, she creates vessel forms before surrendering a degree of control to clay, landscape and fire.

Rocks collected during site-specific walks are thrown at freshly made vessels, disrupting and reshaping their surfaces. These interventions become an integral part of the work, embracing chance, alteration and imperfection.

The pieces are fired in atmospheric kilns using gas and soda, where unpredictable chemical interactions create further transformation. By treating clay and fire as active collaborators, Lottie's work records the encounters and forces that shape each object, resulting in ceramics that reflect a shared authorship between maker, material and place.
