Susan O’Byrne’s narrative, ceramic-animals aim to explore the ability of the animal as metaphor to embody, distil and reflect aspects of human sensitivity.
Susan’s unique set of making processes, include the application of thin layers of encaustic printed porcelain to create highly detailed decorated surface veneers. While referencing historical relics and museum collections, her processes and surfaces draw heavily on traditional and domestic craft practices and folk art.

Nod gwaith cerameg Susan O’Byrne – sy’n cynnwys anifeiliaid sy’n adrodd stori – yw archwilio’r ffordd y gall yr anifail, fel trosiad, ymgorffori, crynhoi ac adlewyrchu agweddau ar sensitifrwydd dynol.
Mae dulliau unigryw Susan o greu yn cynnwys defnyddio haenau tenau o borslen gydag argraffu ‘encaustic’, er mwyn creu haenau arwyneb sydd wedi’u haddurno’n fanwl iawn. Er bod y gwaith yn cyfeirio at arteffactau hanesyddol a chasgliadau amgueddfeydd, mae ei phrosesau a’i harwynebau yn tynnu’n drwm ar arferion crefft traddodiadol a chartrefol, yn ogystal ag ar gelf werin.
