Slab build jug using stoneware clay, embellished with coloured underglaze, ceramic pencil & coded text(decal)

The shape and design is inspired by traditional dresser jugs. Featured on this is my coded language inspired by binary code & the grids found in textiles. Written on the jugs are thoughts & feelings, the title of the work revealing part of what is written. One side is written in Welsh the other in English.

Coded language: Embedded within my designs is my secret language, inspired by binary code and the repetitive grids found in textiles. Drawing from my Welsh heritage, the code includes letters like ‘dd’ and ‘ll’. It serves as a concealed form of communication, allowing me to express thoughts and emotions that might otherwise remain unspoken. Through this coded language, I expose elements of myself, sharing fragments of my inner world with those who take the time to decipher the patterns. Within my work, the title I give to pieces hint at what the piece is talking about without revealing too much but also allowing the viewer to create their own narrative relate to the piece.

Jwg wedi’i adeiladu o slabiau gan ddefnyddio clai crochenwaith caled, a’i harddu â thanwydreddau lliw, pensiliau cerameg a thestun mewn cod (decal)

Ysbrydolir y siâp a’r cynllun gan jygiau dreser traddodiadol. Mae fy iaith mewn cod a ysbrydolwyd gan god deuaidd a’r gridiau a geir ar decstilau’n nodwedd ar hon. Mae fy meddyliau a fy nheimladau wedi’u hysgrifennu ar y jygiau, gyda theitl y gwaith yn datgelu rhan o’r hyn a ysgrifennwyd. Caiff un ochr ei ysgrifennu yn y Gymraeg a’r llall yn Saesneg.

Iaith mewn cod: Mae iaith mewn cod wedi’i hymgorffori yn fy nyluniadau, a ysbrydolwyd gan god deuaidd a’r gridiau ailadroddus a geir mewn tecstilau. Gan dynnu ar fy etifeddiaeth Gymreig, mae’r cod yn cynnwys llythrennau megis ‘dd’ ac ‘ll’. Mae’n gweithredu fel ffurf gudd ar gyfathrebu, ac yn fy nghaniatáu i fynegi meddyliau ac emosiynau a fyddai fel arall efallai yn aros heb eu llefaru. Drwy’r iaith mewn cod hon rwy’n dinoethi elfennau o’n hunan, yn rhannu dernynnau o fy myd mewnol gyda’r sawl sy’n cymryd yr amser i ddatrys y patrymau. O fewn fy ngwaith, mae’r teitlau rwy’n eu rhoi i’r darnau yn awgrymu’r hyn y mae’r darn yn sôn amdano heb ddatgelu gormod ond hefyd yn caniatáu’r gwyliwr i greu ei naratif ei hun i gysylltu â’r darn.
