Well known for her work in bone china and porcelain, Lowri Davies was commissioned by Ruthin Craft Centre to make a small series of prints in anticipation of her solo show in 2025. The fine line drawings and motifs which exquisitely decorate her cups, jugs and vases are here translated into etchings. Lowri grew up in Aberystwyth and now works at Fireworks Clay Studios in Cardiff and her Welsh heritage is often the source of her imagery.

New Printmaking

Alongside Lowri Davies’s work will be a group of recent graduates from across Wales who demonstrate some of the innovative ways printmaking is evolving. The artists include Daisy Buckle, Erin Donnelly and Rebecca Jones, Petra Goetze, Sarah Grossey, Hannah Henson, Esyllt Lewis, Basil Heath Lucock and Amber Mottram. Their varied work includes printing on ceramics and textiles as well as drawing on their different experiences and ways of working.

Yn adnabyddus am ei gwaith ym maes tsieni asgwrn a phorslen, comisiynwyd Lowri Davies gan Ganolfan Grefft Rhuthun i wneud cyfres fechan o brintiau gan ragweld ei sioe unigol yn 2025. Y lluniadau llinell gain a’r motiffau sy’n addurno ei chwpanau, jygiau a fasys yn goeth yn cael eu cyfieithu yma i ysgythriadau. Magwyd Lowri yn Aberystwyth ac mae bellach yn gweithio yn Fireworks Clay Studios yng Nghaerdydd a’i threftadaeth Gymreig yn aml yw ffynhonnell ei delweddaeth.

Gwaith Printio Newydd

Ochr yn ochr â gwaith Lowri Davies bydd grŵp o raddedigion diweddar o bob rhan o Gymru sy’n dangos rhai o’r ffyrdd arloesol y mae gwneud printiau’n esblygu. Mae’r artistiaid yn cynnwys Daisy Buckle, Erin Donnelly a Rebecca Jones, Petra Goetze, Sarah Grossey, Hannah Henson, Esyllt Lewis, Basil Heath Luccock ac Amber Mottram. Mae eu gwaith amrywiol yn cynnwys argraffu ar serameg a thecstilau yn ogystal â thynnu ar eu gwahanol brofiadau a ffyrdd o weithio.
