Six makers’ contemporary response to Edward Pugh’s Cambria Depicta

Windows on Wales – Edward Pugh’s Cambria Depicta gave us a very personal Window on Wales at the beginning of the 19th Century. 200 years on we are updating this with a series of contemporary women artists’ 21st Century Windows on Wales. Through John Barrell’s superb biography and Cambridge University Press’ reprinting of Cambria Depicta, we are celebrating the genius of Edward Pugh and the wonders of a North Wales tour – enjoy the ride! The five central windows and walls of Gallery 3 will feature the work of six applied artists made as a contemporary response to Cambria Depicta and the views that Pugh depicted.

Ffenestri ar Gymru – Roddodd Cambria Depicta Edward Pugh gipolwg personol iawn ar Gymru ar ddechrau’r 19fed Ganrif. 200 mlynedd yn ddiweddarach rydym yn diweddaru hyn gyda chyfres o Ffenestri ar Gymru yn y 21fed Ganrif gan artistiaid benywaidd cyfoes, a thrwy fywgraffiad gwych John Barrell ac ail-argraffiad Gwasg Prifysgol Caergrawnt o’r Cambria Depicta, rydym yn dathlu athrylith Edward Pugh a rhyfeddodau tro trwy Ogledd Cymru – mwynhewch y daith! Bydd pum ffenestr ganolog a wal Oriel 3 yn cynnwys gwaith gan chwe artist cymhwysol wnaed fel ymateb cyfoes i Cambria Depicta a’r golygfaon oedd Pugh yn eu dehongli.
