David and Margaret have been making beautiful pots together for fifty years: two of the few ceramic artists who have spent their lives earning a living from making pots. Hard work and commitment underlie this unique partnership. Their pots are firmly located in the contemporary but express the legacy of diverse traditions. Having mastered the thrown form and firing of seductive reduction glazes they developed wax resist to facilitate the layering of glazes with painted motif and slip trailing to give depth and resonance to the apparently effortless surface decoration. Their pots are complimentary in tone, form and appropriateness for the domestic space, these two ceramic artists work in different dimensions. Margaret produces delicate forms with painted or carved motifs in porcelain and David works on a larger scale in high fired stone ware. This exhibition celebrates their life’s work to date.

Mae David a Margaret wedi bod yn gwneud potiau hardd gyda’i gilydd am hanner can mlynedd: dau o’r ychydig artistiaid serameg sydd wedi treulio eu bywydau yn ennill bywoliaeth o wneud potiau. Wrth wraidd y bartneriaeth unigryw mae gwaith caled ac ymrwymiad. Mae eu potiau yn gwbl gyfoes ond yn mynegi etifeddiaeth amryw o draddodiadau. Wedi meistrioli’r ffurf wrth daflu a thanio gwydreddau gostyngol hardd aethant ati i ddatblygu addurno gwrthgwyr i hwyluso haenu gwydreddau gyda motiffiau wedi’u paentio a slipiau llusg i roi dyfnder a chyseiniant i addurniad arwyneb sy’n ymddangos yn ddiymdrech. Gyda’u potiau’n cydweddu mewn naws, ffurf a phriodoldeb i’r gofod cartref, mae’r ddau artist seramig yn gweithio mewn dimensiynau gwahanol. Mae Margaret yn cynhyrchu ffurfiau cain mewn porslen gyda motiffiau wedi’u paentio neu eu cerfio gyda David yn gweithio ar raddfa fwy mewn crochenwaith caled taniad uchel. Mae’r arddangosfa hon yn dathlu eu holl waith hyd yn hyn.
