We live in a youth-focused society, where to be over 60 is often to be stereotyped, and rarely acknowledged as a voice of any authority, let alone a force for change and innovation. It is a delight to welcome this celebration of astonishing and visionary work from a cohort of makers in their third age, and to proactively debunk that tired thinking. As the Campaign for Learning states, ‘learning is a process of active engagement with experience. It is what people do when they want to make sense of the world. It may involve the development or deepening of skills, knowledge, understanding, awareness, values, ideas and feelings, or an increase in the capacity to reflect. Effective learning leads to change, development and the desire to learn more’. Philip Hughes

Fel y dywed yr Ymgyrch Ddysgu ‘proses yw dysgu sydd yn cyfuno gweithred gyda phrofiad. Dyma beth mae pobl yn ei wneud pan maent eisiau gwneud synnwyr o’r byd. Gall olygu datblygu neu berffeithio sgiliau, gwybodaeth, dealltwriaeth, amgyffrediad, gwerthoedd, syniadau a theimladau neu hyd yn oed gynyddu’r gallu i fyfyrio.
