The natural characteristics of materials that come from the earth can reveal varied and fascinating identities. Taken by makers and manipulated, nuances develop and a material can be revealed in a new way.
Looking at ceramic, paper, metal, textiles and wood, Elemental shows the work of makers particularly interested in exploiting the inherent qualities of their chosen materials. Sometimes this means materials revealed in their most natural form – while others manipulate the characteristics we know to make new revelations of form and surface.

Mewn deunyddiau sydd yn deillio o’r ddaear medrir gweld eu nodweddion naturiol, amrywiol a lledrithiol. Wrth iddynt gael eu trin a’u trafod gan grefftwyr y mae eu naws a’u deunydd yn arddangos eu hunain mewn ffordd newydd.
O edrych ar serameg, papur, metel, tecstiliau a phren y mae Elfennau yn dangos gwaith crefftwyr sydd â diddordeb arbennig mewn manteisio ar nodweddion cynhenid eu dewis ddeunydd. Ambell dro y mae hyn yn golygu bod y deunyddiau yn cael eu dangos yn eu ffurf naturiol tra bod eraill yn cael eu trin i greu ffurf ac arwyneb hollol newydd.
