‘Simon Carroll, an artist of extraordinary vigour and energy, was a maker of paintings, prints and beach drawings, but it is as a potter that he was most prolific, and it is for his uncompromising expressionist ceramics that he is most celebrated. Simon Carroll’s death in 2009 cut short the life of a singular artist of extraordinary abilities. An artist who found in clay an intensely personal form of expression. An artist whose work, while ostensiby following an established tradition, was entirely his own.’
