This exhibition spans 45 years of evolving concerns: from a CATEGORY (domestic furniture developing towards minimum components) to a STRATEGY (the geometry of triangulated structures developing towards minimal materials) to a PROCESS (erecting structures using minimal extra equipment and labour)… Because the objects fulfil practical purposes their actual use demonstrates the efficiency of the structures. These are the intentional ideas that drive me to design; there are no other deliberate ones.

The exhibition is the third and final of three contemporary furniture maker exhibitions co-curated by the Crafts Study Centre and Ruthin Craft Centre.

Mae’r arddangosfa hon yn pontio 45 o flynyddoedd o ddatblygu yn y busnes: o GATEGORI (dodrefn domestig oedd yn datblygu tuag at gael cyn lleied â phosibl o gydrannau) i STRATEGAETH (geometrig adeileddau trionglog yn datblygu tuag at gael cyn lleied â phosibl o ddeunyddiau) i’r BROSES (codi adeileddau gan ddefnyddio cyn lleied â phosibl o offer a llafur ychwanegol)… Gan fod y gwrthrychau’n cyflawni pwrpas ymarferol bob tro, mae’r ffaith eu bod yn cael eu defnyddio yn dangos pa mor effeithlon ydi’r adeiledd. Dyma’r syniadau bwriadol sy’n fy ngyrru i, i ddylunio; does dim cymhelliad pwrpasol arall.
